My Name Is Khan review: Karan Johar is director of My Name Is Khan, who now has a new sensibility and a bolder theme. The film is about Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) who suffers from a birth disorder as Asperger’s Syndrome. While interacting with people Rizwan has problems. His US-based younger brother (Jimmy Shergill) takes him to San Francisco after his mother’s (Zarina Wahab) death. Though he has disorder Rizwan starts working as a salesman. But in one situation he meets Mandira (Kajol) and his life changes. Mandira is a single mother having a school going boy. Later on she falls in love with Rizwan. They get married and suddenly on 9/11 their life changes. Mandira started hating Rizwan from 9/11. To win Mandira back, Rizwan is faced with the most daunting task of all. He starts his journey across different states, cultures, people. During this time Rizwan goes through very tough situations to rediscover his lost love.
My Name Is Khan storyline: My Name Is Khan story is really interesting. Karan Johar has handled a difficult subject with a hero who is suffering from a disorder and a mother who has a school going boy. I think My Name Is Khan’s story is the most comprehensive than any other he’s ever told. Romance of SRK-Kajol is directed very nicely in My Name Is Khan. It is definitely very difficult for any child living with single parent to accept a new person in his family. But in My Name Is Khan director Karan Johar has shown it very effectively.
Star cast of My Name Is Khan is just superb. Zarina Wahab (Rizwan Khan’s mother), Jimmy Shergill (Rizwan Khan’s brother), Soniya Jehan and Arif Zakaria are really very good in performance. What to say about Kajol? It’s simply nice to see Kajol back in action. Her romantic scene with SRK while proposing him as well as emotional scene with her son brings Mandira alive. You can not stop yourself to say her as simply the best. Now SRK’s magic is at play in almost all the crucial moments. No one can challenge Shahrukh in his acting. His innocent nature in MNIK intents you to laugh and when he’s in pain you want to cry. He has done role of Rizwan as natural as he in all films.
To enjoy Karan-Shah Rukh-Kajol combo magic once again, you must see my name is khan
